Ektron CMS Open Departmental Web Page Workshops |

| These Ektron CMS open workshops will be open to any one that needs to work on their departmental web pages. I will open the first 20-30 minutes of this workshop to go over the editing features of using Ektron CMS program as needed by the users attending the workshop. I will also cover how to edit a photo using Microsoft Picture Manager to crop or resize your images before adding them to a web page. Bring your questions to this workshop or email me ahead of time what functions you would like explained. Check out the FAQ's for more details. The rest of the workshop available time will be editing your web pages so bring your questions and work to do. Drop in or stay as it suits your needs. These workshops are held monthly. | This workshop is perfect for new employees! A great refresher class too! In this workshop we will get into the Network on campus & find your department & personal folders. Outlook for reading your emails has many features & I will show you the 10 best tips. Find out what the Gateway is, check out Moodle & Email icons & learn how to customize it to suit your needs. Emails can also be read by all employees using Outlook web access from anywhere using a browser & learn how in this class. Passwords, Password Self-Serve & quotas will also be covered along with where to go to get some help. | These workshops will be geared towards folks just learning to use the basics on computers, emails, browsers, word and excel, so bring your questions/struggles. Various functions include: Using Outlook Web for your Emails & Calendar, Creating & Deleting Emails, Setting an Out of Office for Vacations, Organizing Emails by Making Folders & then moving Emails into them, Adding Attachments to Emails, Opening & Saving Attachments, Looking up Users at Dickinson, Adding Users to your Contacts, Making Appointments in your Calendar & Watching for Reminders, Spell Check, Copy & Paste, Learn to Type Web Sites, Using the Internet, Opening Web Pages, Manipulating Several Windows open at a Time, Saving Links, Navigating a Computer, Recycle Bin, Using multiple Tabs & Windows, Word Basic, Excel Basics, Creating & Saving Files, How to Use Cliq to sign up for other classes, Learn how to Right Mouse Click, the Greatest Invention Ever! | This is a great workshop to learn the Top 10 Most Used Features of Excel 2010.
Simple Formulas, Quick Charts, Freeze Top Row, Split Screen, Sort, Filters, Hide/Unhide - Rows, Columns & Worksheets, Printing Options, Merge & Center and Fill. Throughout the class I will share my favorite shortcuts too. This is a great refresher workshop to attend. Microsoft Word 2010 PC's - Table of Contents |

| In this workshop will learn how to make a Table of Contents. We will take a document, apply Heading Styles which makes adding a Table of Contents to a document easy! In this class we will learn how to modify the styles font and size to suit your needs. Once a document is created then lets made a change to it, more pages, another chapter and find out how to Update that Table of Contents in a snap. Did you know that once a Table of Contents is added to a document it becomes links that users can click on to navigate to chapters quickly? It also works the same way when saved as a pdf. Do you have a large document that needs to have a Table of Contents? If so, I will stay after this class and help you get it set up for a Table of Contents. Be sure to save this document on the network so you can access it from the training lab. Microsoft Excel 2010 PC's - Budget - Templates & Create From Scratch |

| In this workshop we will learn how to find several Excel Budget Templates and modify them to suit your needs. Save yourself time by searching for templates, download them, edit and set up a budget quickly because they are already created and filled with formulas. Then we will start from scratch to create a simple Budget worksheet with the allowance dollar amount filled in, then add expenses, seeing after each expense is added what the remaining balance is in the Budget. This is a great refresher workshop on using formulas. We will also get some new ideas of how to set up an Excel file for a budget with a list of expenses. Microsoft Word 2010 PC's - Labels, Badges & Document Merges |

| Come to this workshop & learn how to create labels & badges. We will start from the beginning & use an Excel file that has names & addresses. If you create labels or badges for your office & would like to use your Excel file please do so by being sure this file is saved on the network so you can access this from the training room. Remember to also bring your label/badge box so we can get the style number to suit your needs. In the second part of the class we will create a business letter and personalize it using the data from the same Excel file. Both of these are part of the Merge function found in Word. Merging Data from Excel to Word. Learn the best way to set up your Excel file to make the Merge work perfect. This is a great refresher workshop to attend. Mac's - Microsoft 2011 - Scrapbook, AutoCorrect, AutoFormat & AutoText |

| Scapbook is a feature in Office 2011 that can store items, such a text, pictures, images or graphics that you want to use over and over within all of the office applications. AutoCorrect, AutoFormat and AutoText can help save you time creating and editing documents using these features.

Microsoft Word 2010 PC's - Styles, Style Sets & Format Painter |

| What is a Style? Why and How do I make one? Come to this workshop and we will dig into Styles. Let's create your own style and save it for use later. The biggest reason forusing Styles is to save yourself valuable time. Finally let's use the quickest way to Copy a format by using Format Painter. Mac's - Microsoft Outlook 2011 - Rules - Contacts - Calendar |

| Signatures are a must anymore when sending emails. We will cover creating a signature that suits your needs and then learn how to update it to add more details. Getting emails organized into folders then create rules to make emails go into those folders will also be covered in this workshop. Creating Contacts from emails is so easy & with the exchange server all the details are there in a snap. Contacts for users outside of Dickinson can be created from scratch and we will learn how. Finally, Contact Groups is a must to save time when you send to the same folks over & over again. We will dive into Appointments and Meeting Requests to end this workshop. Microsoft Excel 2010 PC's - Pie, Bar, Line & Area Charts |

| Bar charts in are good at displaying values for different groups for comparison. Area charts emphasize the magnitude of change over time, and can be used to draw attention to the total value across a trend, emphasizing totals. Line charts display continuous data over time, set against a common scale, and are ideal for showing trends in data at equal intervals. Pie charts require data be in only one row or column in which each piece of data is represented as a portion of a whole. Come to this workshop, open up data for each type of chart and learn how and what works best to display data. | Let's make a PowerPoint presentation, create and add various types of slides with details. Let's then add Notes for you as the presenter for each slide so that you can keep on track with each slides details. Once we have finished the presentation learn how to print Handouts for the audience suit your needs.

Mac or PC computers too. Check out Lynda.com to preview free example videos. Click here for PC's Excel 2010 & here for Mac's Word 2011. The links in blue are free video's to view. Dickinson College employees, if interested can get an account for 14 days at a time and view these videos! Once your account is created you can take turns using Lynda throughout the year. Let's learn how to add AutoText, frequently used words, people and departmental names so that it will automatically add it when typing. Maybe you don't use a laptop when taking notes, don't worry we will go over some tips on the old fashioned taking notes via pen and paper too.
