Technology Training Certificate Classes

Welcome to the Technology Training Certificate Program Level 1 for Office 2010 provided by Users Services of the Library & Information Services Department. These workshops will be held in the Professional Development Lab which is in South College, second floor, in rooms 212-214, using PC computers.
 
In this Technology Training Certification Level 1 for Office 2010 the programs and functions are listed below that will be covered using PC computers. Once you have completed all four sections you will receive a Certificate. You must sign up for all four sections to be a part of the Technology Training Certification Program Level 1. Once completed these will be added to your Professional Development area in Banner for your Director to view.
 
To sign up for these please use CLIQ by entering the Gateway and navigate to the CLIQ icon. Instructions to register in CLIQ here.
Remember to get the certificate you must sign up for all four Technology Training Certification Program Level 1 sections:
  • Windows 7 & Computer Skills - Level 1
  • Word 2010 Basic - Level 1
  • Outlook 2010 Basic - Level 1
  • Excel 2010 Basic - Level 1

This must be done at least a week before classes start:
Please email helpdesk@dickinson.edu to register for Remote Desktop. Remote Desktop will be used in the Outlook dates listed below. For this to work you must have your computer turned on and you must be logged into your computer. You must also know your computer name. Check here for details.
 

Windows 7 & Computer Skills - Level 1

September 11th and September 18th, 2013
Wednesday afternoons - 2:30pm till 4pm in South College
 
Homework: Watch Video/s linked above in red.
Make a short cut to your public folder, a dept folder, a file & then change the icon. Snip that and send it to me, via the Snipping Tool.
Makeup Date for is September 25th, 2:30pm till 4pm
 

Outlook 2010 - Level 1

October 9th and October 16th, 2013
Wednesday afternoons - 2:30pm till 4pm in South College
 
Homework: Watch Video/s linked above in red.
Select an word doc as attachment look at it by the Preview. Create a new folder, rename folder, move a email into that folder.
Makeup Date is October 23rd, 2:30pm till 4pm
 

Word 2010 - Level 1

October 30th and November 6th, 2013
Wednesday afternoons - 2:30pm till 4pm in South College
 
Homework: Watch Video/s linked above in red.
Create a document, insert text from another document, Spell check, & give the document Page Numbers. Set a different Font, add some url's & Save As a pdf. Save this document 3 ways (doc, docx & pdf) into your Public Folder. Save documents and name them with your last name. (gribble.doc & gribble.docx & gribble.pdf)
Makeup Date is November 13th, 2:30pm till 4pm
 

Excel 2010 - Level 1

November 20th and December 4th, 2013
Wednesday afternoons - 2:30pm till 4pm in South College
 
Homework: Watch the video/s linked above in red.
Create a excel workbook with 3 worksheets, rename each worksheet. Add a new worksheet & remove 1 unused worksheet. Save this Excel file in your Public folder and send me an email with the name of this file so I can find it.
Makeup Date is December 11th, 2:30pm till 4pm
Makeup Dates: September 25th, October 23rd, November 13th & December 11th (2:30pm till 4pm) South College, room 212-214. If you cannot make it to a class mark these dates for makeup sessions if they are needed. So if you are sick or any emergency arises you can always make up the class. These can be also attended by anyone that wants a refresher too!
 
When attending a class, please be sure you know your network password to log onto the computer. If you do not know your network password email helpdesk@dickinson.edu before class to get a new one. Their will be limited handouts for these workshops in trying to keep with the Sustainability Program on campus.
 
The Technology Training Certification Programs are open to only employees of Dickinson College. If enough student interest should arise we would consider opening to students for the future sessions. If you are an interested student please email me at gribble@dickinson.edu
