FAQ’s concerning Dickinson College phone system

Q:  How do I set up my voicemail?

A:  Follow these steps.
1)      Press the envelope key.
2)      Press the soft key that corresponds with "voicemail" or "voice messages".
3)      Enter the temporary password (your extension number). Press #.
4)      Enter your new password. Press #.
5)      Record your name. Press #.
6)      Follow the automated prompts to select a greeting.

You will have the option to select a standard greeting or to record a personal greeting.
Press 1 to select a standard greeting.
Press 2 to select a personal greeting.

You will then hear a tutorial of voicemail reminders. The recording will then tell you how many messages you have and instruct you how to listen to them.

Below are the steps for setting up and accessing voicemail from off campus.

1) Call (717) 245-1800.
2) Press #.
3) Enter your mailbox number (your extension number).
4) Enter the temporary password (your extension number). Press #.
5) Enter your new password. Press #.
6) Record your name. Press #.
7) Follow the automated prompts to select a greeting.

You will have the option to select a standard greeting or to record a personal greeting.
Press 1 to select a standard greeting.
Press 2 to select a personal greeting.

You will then hear a tutorial of voicemail reminders. The recording will then tell you how many messages you have and instruct you how to listen to them.

Q: The envelope key is flashing or illuminated but you do not have new voicemail messages.
A: Read the display and check for missed calls.  You must delete these before the light will go away.

Q: Calls automatically come through the speaker when someone calls.
A: Check to see if the green mute button is activated when the phone is idle.  If so deactivate this feature.

Q: The phone is locked.
A: Call extension 1000, Option #1.

Q: Does my phone have conference abilities?
A: Yes. You have BASIC (three party) conferencing and CASUAL (six party) conferencing.

Q: How do I use conference?
A: For instructions, please refer to the laminated "Telephone Usage Basics" quick reference guide that was left on your desk.

Q: If I use PINS for faxing, can I still use my PIN?
A: Yes. You must dial * 9 first; then your PIN number.
