Blackboard Instructions for adding files to a course
These instructions are for putting files from your drop
folder on the network into a course in Blackboard. Details on folders can
be found at Network
Folders Explained. Your network password will be required to log into
the network. If you are using a PC it will be required to log into the computer,
if you are using a Mac it will be required once you reach the prompt for
access to the network on your computer. If you have forgotten
your
network password call the Helpdesk at x1000 or email helpdesk@dickinson.edu.

To add a file to your Blackboard course
using a PC computer:

First go into the Control Panel of the
course then click on the Course Documents link or any other
button you wish to add files to. Click on Add Item icon
and type in a name you desire. Scroll down and click on
the browse button, this will open a Choose file dialog box.

Navigate to the file you would like to add.
- Select your file and click on the Open button
on this dialog box. You can also add folders. Click here for step by step instructions.

You should now be back at your Blackboard window
in which you can choose your Options or leave to the
default. You can now
click on the
Submit button at the bottom. Your file has been
uploaded into your course.
- If you have items scanned they are placed into your Drop folder on the network. Steps to find the Drop folder:
If you are using a PC computer you can click on the "My Computer" Icon on the desktop.
Once that window opens double click on the "Users on Admin P" drive. There you will see a list of folders.
Go into the folder that starts with the letter of your last name. Once inside that folder find the folder with your username.
Double click to open and you will find a Private and Public folder.
Your Drop folder is inside your Public folder, which is where the pdf files are.
To add a file to your Blackboard course
using a Mac OS X:

Click on the Go menu, then Connect to Server. On
the At window choose Admin and click on the Connect button. A Connect
to Server "Admin" as dialog box will appear. Put your username
in the Name box and your network password in the Password box and click
on Connect
button.

Another dialog box will appear in which you need to select
Users and click on the OK button. A Users icon will appear on your desktop
which
you will need to open to find the folder that your username is located
in. Double click to open to find your Private and Public folders. Double
click
on the Public folder and double click to open the Drop folder to find
your file.

At this point you can drag your file to the desktop or I suggest
into a folder you have created to keep all Blackboard files. Now you
can get
into Blackboard and find the course you would like to add a file to
by going into the Control Panel and click on the Course Documents (or whatever
button
you choose). Click on Add Item icon and put in a name you desire. Scroll
down and click on the browse button, this will open a Choose file dialog
box. At
the top of this dialog box click on the drop down arrow and find the
desktop or folder that you put your file into. Select the file and click
on the Open
button.

You will now be back at your Blackboard window in which you
can choose your Options or leave to the default. You can now
click on the Submit button at the bottom. Your file has been uploaded
into
your course.
