LIS has two types of laptops for loan. One set is available for faculty and staff to use on or off campus. The other set can only be used within the Waidner-Spahr Library.
Faculty & Staff Laptop Loans (on or off-campus)
Employees of the college may borrow a laptop from the library Circulation Desk for up to 2 weeks for college-related work. The employee should request a laptop by e-mailing firstname.lastname@example.org. The borrower must come to the library Circulation Desk to sign a waiver accepting responsibility for the laptop. The employee will be held responsible for damages or loss to the computer or peripherals loaned with the computer.
All loaner laptops have current software installed. If the employee intends to use the laptop for a presentation on campus, he/she should tell the Helpdesk (lower level of the library) where the presentation is being held so that the helpdesk technician may determine if a data jack is available at that location. The borrower should allow at least 24-hours notice to prepare the laptop prior to the presentation.
Laptops are made available on a "first come, first served" basis. Reservations are required.
The library has 35 dual boot MacBooks available for in-library use for classes or by individuals.
The laptops may be reserved for class use in the library. Faculty should reserve library rooms with CASE and the laptops through the circulation desk by e-mailing email@example.com. If special software is needed for a class, please include that information when making the cart reservation.
Laptops may be checked out for use in the library to Dickinson College community members whenever they are not scheduled for class use.
The initial check-out period is for two hours. Overdue fees will begin to accrue if the laptop is not renewed. Please see Library Loan Periods for more information. In addition to checking out the computer, the patron will be required to sign a responsibility agreement form. Patrons will be responsible for lost or damaged laptops and/or parts.
- All laptops have current software installed and can be used on the library's wireless network. Please see Wireless Computing for more information.
- Failure to comply with policies my result in suspension of laptop borrowing privileges.
